Targeted delivery of therapeutic CO: On the way from bench to bedside?

This animation describes an innovative technology platform which opens the door for several therapeutic applications of carbon monoxide (CO). The membrane-based targeted delivery approach for CO has been tested successfully in animals and will now be translated into a development program for human studies. Primary targets will be an oral delivery system for treatment of gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases as well as a transdermal patch for being used in sports medicine.
