Summary

This is a Position Paper by the International Society of Hypertension, which presents the published evidence on the clinical relevance of bedtime dosing of antihypertensive drugs. The conclusion is that bedtime dosing should not be routinely recommended. Until high-quality evidence is available, complete, 24-hour control of blood pressure should be the target, using long-acting antihypertensive medications as monotherapy or combinations administered in the morning, preferably as a single pill.
