How can magnetotatic bacteria enable new biotechnologies?
Magnetotactic bacteria are unique in their ability to align themselves along magnetic poles using tiny iron oxide crystals called magnetosomes. They could potentially replace traditional chemical magnetic nanoparticles used in cancer, drug delivery, energy generation, bioremediation, and MRI contrast dyes.
