Summary

Open online learning has the potential to increase accessibility, inclusivity, and equity in education. However, retention rates vary dramatically between learners from different social, regional, cultural and economic backgrounds. Current analytical models do little to address this disparity and may even be biased towards majority learning groups. This research seeks to understand the relationship between course designs and retention rates, and explore ways to make online learning more accessible and inclusive.
