How can peer review better serve early career researchers?
Summary
At Lancaster University the Peer Review and Expert Review Laboratory, known as PEARL, has undertaken research which indicates that the peer review system can be used to help early career researchers remain in academia and research. If reviewers give encouragement in the form of positive “good” signals, through targeted, actionable and fair feedback, it can support researcher’s development – helping them to be more successful in the future and continue in the field.
