School-based DBT: A social-emotional toolkit for students and staff
Summary
Dialectical Behavior Therapy with adolescents (DBT-A), DBT for adolescents designed by Alec Miller, Jill Rathus & Marsha Linehan, is an evidence-based outpatient intervention originally designed for emotionally and behaviorally dysregulated youth some of whom self-harm. Dr. Miller and his colleagues have since adapted DBT for school-based settings ranging from 1) teaching a broad range of life skills to students in general education classroom settings (i.e. Universal Classroom-DBT), to 2) applying comprehensive DBT in schools in a more targeted fashion to students showing signs and symptoms of distress.
