How tech and big data turn animal behaviour into a welfare assessment tool

Zoos play a key role in modern society, and ensuring the welfare of their animals is paramount. Recent advances in monitoring technology and data analytics can increase our understanding of the needs of zoo animals. With their zoo partners, researchers at Kyoto University are building on zoo initiatives to trial novel ways of assessing zoo animal behaviour. They are looking for partners to work with them to work toward improving the lives of animals under our care.
