Summary

Dog lungworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) is a distressing disease which is spreading throughout the UK. Anthelmintic treatments have been shown to be effective and are licensed for use, yet vets often choose to prescribe unlicensed Fenbendazole. Researcher Profile

The project is organised, executed, and managed through collaboration between an experienced Small Animal clinician (Dr Mark Dunning, RCVS and EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine) and a parasitology specialist (Dr Hany Elsheikha, Associate Professor of Veterinary Parasitology, and Diplomat EVPC, Specialist™ in Parasitology)from University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. Both investigators have extensive experience in canine angiostrongylosis and veterinary parasitology research.
