When it comes to COVID-19, a lot of us keep hearing “Don’t be sheeple, people! Do your own research!” But we’re living in the midst of an “infodemic” where we are exposed to a variety of complex, sometimes contradicting information. Yes, science evolves as we learn more about this novel virus, but there is also significant misinformation and disinformation in the mix. “Doing your own research” requires ensuring social media algorithms don’t have you trapped in your own “filter bubble” and you’re properly evaluating the sources providing information.
